Excerpt from On The Scene

"For a second, the entire world went completely black as the heavy SUV slammed her smaller car into the air.  She felt her car flip over and a second impact as the passenger's side of her car crashed into the guardrail.  Her car continued to tumble and finally came to rest upside down in the opposite lane of traffic. Amanda could hear muffled sounds of tires squealing and the sound of other vehicles crashing as the SUV continued its deadly course.

As suddenly as it began, everything stopped.  Amanda could hear sounds of people screaming and calling for help. Amanda tried to get free from her vehicle to offer assistance.  She could tell from the sounds of those around her that there were several people who needed her help if she could only get to them.  As she struggled to move, trying to release the shoulder harness that held her in place, she found she couldn't move.  Slowly, she began to realize what had happened and why she could not move.

Her car was on her head and she was bleeding heavily from a large avulsion in her scalp.  Instead of being able to help, Amanda realized that she was one of the victims needing assistance.  As she tried to scream for help, blood flowed into her mouth.  Amanda knew she was in deep trouble along with several other victims of this crash, but all she could do was concentrate on trying to stay awake and breathe."

This fictional novel, "On The Scene", portrays the life of an emergency paramedic who has endured burn out and overcome a lot of the stress which face emergency medical services employees.  Paramedic Kevin Wright is the son of a military doctor who wanted his son and daughter to follow in his footsteps.  Different views, values and personalities separated the family and continued to haunt father, son and daughter through their adult years.

Kevin's wife is a socially elite, stunning, successful anchor person for a local news channel.  She has aspirations to move on to the networks.  To increase her ratings, Helen has given birth on live TV, followed one of her girls through a tonsillectomy and chronicled her older daughter's recovery and physical therapy from a severe ankle injury.

Dramatized real life emergency calls serve as the background for this family and its struggles.  Topping it all off are two very talented and very driven young girls who want nothing less that to qualify  for the Junior Olympic gymnastics team.  Helen's TV producer has ideas of his own for revenge and self promotion using Helen and Kevin's daughters in a plot to discredit the face Houston loves.

Come along for the ride as On the Scene will take you from the joys of delivering a baby on the roadside,  talking a suicidal young woman out of jumping from a bridge to the despair of helplessly performing CPR on a person whose life has ended.
